Eugene's full of lefties and greenie hipsters with noses held high, and rednecks prefer Springfield, where none of the bars sell craft brews. But Hwy 20 near Burns has flat 50 mile tangents through the sagebrush where you might as well pull over in the late afternoon when sol invictus sets right on the centerline, or put on a welding mask so you can see to your hood through the solar flare that used to be your windshield. Srsly, I could still see sunspots an hour after sunset in the big blue spot that was center of my vision. Think: Blinding thermonuclear flash that lasts for 2 hours.

Anyone who stays out there long is gonna give up some rods and cones...I pity the poor Vanilla ISIS sniper who has to cover the western approaches to the occupied log & stone Visitor's Center...when he catches that sun in that 12x scope, it's gonna burn a hole straight through the back of even his thick skull before he can get out of the way.

The Bundy movement:
"Bundy is still a free man. He hasn't paid his money, and it's emboldened the entire movement to basically think, 'We don't have to follow the rules,'" Beirich said, explaining that that is what's happening now in Oregon.

The Bundy incident in 2014, as well as another incident in Oregon last year, "enlivened" the militias, she said, because they made them feel successful.
