Does anyone else have difficulties envisaging an obese man with 20/400 vision that plagued him with having to wear Coke-bottle glasses for most of his life having a career in a police force? I can only envisage him as a lowly paid employee of a privately owned and run security services firm standing guard outside some shop that this business has a contract with, or doing the rounds of some establishment like a university or factory, checking that none of its doors have been broken into. Or perhaps he is just letting his imagination run wild, secure in the knowledge that his jealously guarded anonymity that his flights of fancy will ever be discovered for what they are.

Then again, he does live in the USA. Who knows what level the thousands of official state and county law enforcement bodies stoop to in order to stay within the budgets allocated by their respective libertarian minded funders when they seek to recruit a sufficient number of grunts.
