Not in my case. I have been promoted quite rapidly over the last 13 years, but certainly in my line of work (education/social care in local authorities) salaries have gone up perhaps a little above inflation. The 'top' salaries have soared though. Chief executives of councils, directors and so on have risen much faster. Currently people are muttering/speculating about a 20% cut in council budgets. That will affect the services provided to every citizen without doubt.

Raise taxes on everything, particularly foods containing sugar, and pre-processed foods. Lower taxes on fresh vegetables, meat and fish. Use extra money on science/healthcare for everyone.

Sell off the royal family and all they 'own'. Scrap Trident- although, I'm sure it would cost afortune to 'get rid of'. Allow people to live rent-free in the houses that they can no longer afford to pay the mortgages on. Massively tax credit card companies/Banks with an APR greater than inflation.

I'd have a cull of local authority jobs. I'm not talking about teachers or social workers or the like, I'm talking about things like "Head of Creative Visioneering: Creating a fresh identity for Margate!" £75k p.a. + car. I'd scrap these jobs. And sack the hiring managers who thought they were a good idea.

Middle management across the entire public sector. Half of them just go to meetings about what to discuss in the next meeting and are a total waste of resources. A large percentage of them could be culled.
