Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
I guess Trump didn't figure on this reaction to one of his stupid nicknames.

but then, old Mitch appears to have taken the gloves off at long last.Sen. Mitch McConnell isn't concerned about a nickname given to him by former President Donald Trump, who's been referring to him as an "Old Crow" since the former allies became political adversaries.
"It's my favorite bourbon," McConnell said in an interview with The Washington Examiner, referring — as he likes to do when asked about Trump — to an 80-proof, aged Kentucky spirit that takes its name from distiller James C. Crow.
"Aren't we using Old Crow as my moniker now?" McConnell, 79, said, turning to a staffer who was on hand for the interview. "It was Henry Clay's favorite bourbon," he added, referring to the famous Kentucky lawmaker who served in the House and Senate in the 1800s and was featured in advertisements for the bourbon brand.
Trump, with his history of colorful nicknames for his nemeses, certainly doesn't mean it as a compliment. But drawing a connection between a Kentucky lawmaker and a classic brand of his state's beloved libation likely doesn't sting quite as much as a long sip of the stuff.
Mitch McConnell and Henry Clay. What next?As Mr. Trump works to retain his hold on the Republican Party, elevating a slate of friendly candidates in midterm elections, Mr. McConnell and his allies are quietly, desperately maneuvering to try to thwart him. The loose alliance, which was once thought of as the G.O.P. establishment, for months has been engaged in a high-stakes candidate recruitment campaign, full of phone calls, meetings, polling memos and promises of millions of dollars. It’s all aimed at recapturing the Senate majority, but the election also represents what could be Republicans’ last chance to reverse the spread of Trumpism before it fully consumes their party.
Mr. McConnell for years pushed Mr. Trump’s agenda and only rarely opposed him in public. But the message that he delivers privately now is unsparing, if debatable: Mr. Trump is losing political altitude and need not be feared in a primary

Longtime Trump accountant says a decade of financial statements are unreliable
Mazars USA, the longtime accountants for the Trump Organization, former President Donald Trump's family business, ended its relationship with the company last week as prosecutors continue their investigation.
The development was revealed in court documents filed Monday as part of a probe by the New York state attorney general's office.
In a letter dated Feb. 9 to the Trump Organization's executive vice president and chief legal officer, Mazars' attorney warned that financial statements from 2011 to 2020 "should no longer be relied upon."
"We have come to this conclusion based, in part, upon the filings made by the New York Attorney General on January 18, 2022, our own investigation, and information received from internal and external sources," William Kelly, Mazars' general counsel, wrote.
