Socialism is not opposed to autocratic rule. Autocratic rule is not necessary for socialism, but autocratic rule is common in socialist countries.

Socialism is also not about curing poverty, it's about establishing equality.

But, I have to admit that I don't understand why so many people opposed the deal. I'm not sure how keeping a company like Amazon out will improve your subways. If you live in a city then you've seen the improvements that come from having big business move into the area. The anti-gentrification argument doesn't sit well with me either. You're essentially fighting to keep improvements out.

Where's the reasoning to say that other businesses won't move in to fill that hole that is left by Amazon not being there?

Democrats insist that illegals don't put pressure on their services, but EVERYTHING that serves humans, from sewers to grocery stores to emergency responders, will have pressure from increased population.

They shouldn't want to come to the US, when the rest of the world is so much more civilized and so much less oppressive than the US. Remember, the US oppresses the poor - it's not opportunity here, it's unfairness to the poor - there is no help for the poor here, who die in the streets due to lack of health care, no job security, and no benefits.

The poor immigrants are unwittingly walking right into the maw of a hungry tiger, here. They should be warned, not welcomed! Stay out! It's awful here!

Haven't they been following Tero and Scot Dutchy? Haven't they seen the proof that every other western industrialized country and most second and third world countries, are far better than the US? The US is the king of income and wealth inequality! Where is the free college and free health care????

Indeed, why in the world would anyone from "the rest of the world" want to come to the US. Yet, there are a 1,000,000 new citizens, 1,000,000 new permanent residents, ever year, and the illegal immigrant crossings are pushing 60,000 to 100,000 per month (apprehensions, that's not counting the number that actually get through!) -- we have something like 30,000,000 people here (populations of countries like Australia and Canada) who came to the US and live here illegally, under the radar, putting up with massive racism, sexism, oppression, inequality, and just downright evil treatment.

Clearly, the message isn't getting out loud enough as to how bad it really is here.

I still have no idea what a racist, sexist country would be like. I live in Canada, and if I were going to be born the LEAST liked race (whatever it may be that decade) I would choose to be born here. The US would be ok, too, but it's too crowded.
