I care what women think. That's why I'm very wary of Islam. Their human rights record at teh centre of their culture in Saudi Arabia is appalling. The percentage of people in support of gay marriage among Muslims in Germany is as high as that among all Americans and higher than among Evangelical Americans. So it would be difficult to speak about "general views among muslims". Consider individual groups and individuals individually.

Now I'm sure you'll have no trouble accepting that many if not most Christians don't subjugate women in strict accordance with the demands of the New Testament, even when this is exactly what their sacred religious texts command them. So why do you presume that Koran is any worse on women, or that it has more power or force, or that merely being a Muslim automatically renders one a women-oppressing wife-beater type?
