The tricky thing with Ford is the Phd in psychology. Did she pursue the degree because of her own mental illness or a close family member?
I think she is sane, and used her training to attempt to spin a ridiculous story while remaining liable for no more than defamation with the unlikelihood of being sued. And will crack like an egg when threatened with jail time.

He got confirmed because no matter what story, or how much of it was true, more than half of the eligible voters confirmed him.
