Well it is explicitly said in the forth paragraph. The implications are clear. Not that it matters because it is that paragraph which is bullshit. It was clearly inserted by its author as a "don't fuck with the marines" piece as well as a "slap on the back for the law for saying nothing" article.Gawdzilla wrote:Got that from a four paragraph report did you?Animavore wrote:I'm not talking about the marines. Okay, then. I won't argue what you chose to read into it.Animavore wrote:Well it is explicitly said in the forth paragraph. The implications are clear. Despite anyone's personal conviction that is the message intended by the author. If you choose indignation, support or humor as a response is your choice, but the underlying message you obtain is the same.Gawdzilla wrote: Okay, then. I won't argue what you chose to read into it.
I can live with doubt, and uncertainty, and not knowing. I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong. [...] I don’t feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without having any purpose, which is the way it really is, as far as I can tell, possibly. It doesn’t frighten me. - Richard Feynman

Exactly!Rum wrote:Um..the marine was stabbed! Stabbed? Knifed? There weren't the police either.
You know?
Urban myth or not, it would only be an example of over the top vigilantism if it was an escaping robber who did nothing to the marines, but was collared by them and beaten up because "that's what you should do to criminals".
If a scenario like the OP actually happened just as described, getting beaten up as a consequence of knifing someone is not OTT at all...
Nurse, where the fuck's my cardigan?
And my gin!
