And the A-10 has two engines, but if it loses one, it's combat ineffective, particularly if it's on fire. Furthermore, the API will penetrate the titanium "tub" that the pilot sits in quite easily, not to mention the rest of the aircraft, which is filled with critical hydraulic systems and suchlike.

Still not bringing it down in one shot. BTW, heard of nitrogen suppression systems? And the critical systems are redundant, so one shot won't take it out. Google some more, maybe you'll find something else I can feed back to you.

I went out there a lot from San Diego. I got to visit some target ranges for live fire exercises and once I got to sit in a 'Hog while they were sighting the GAU-8. Best trigger time I ever had.
