Ryanair boss calls Thames estuary airport plan 'nuts'

Ryanair's boss has called for new runways at Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick, branding any plans for a new South East airport "absolutely nuts".

Michael O'Leary said a new hub in the Thames estuary would not make economic sense and agreements limiting expansion at existing sites should be scrapped...

I totally agree that new airports are a shit idea (not to mention that the very topic of new airports, indeed new anythings, in Kent is NONE OF THE MAYOR OF FUCKING-LONDON'S FUCKING-BUSINESS!!!!), but then I generally don't see the burning need to expand air-travel anyway. It's only the sodding airlines who bang on about it anyway, and they've been banging on about it for donkeys years! - The industry hasn't shown any sign of being run into the ground over that period.

I was also a bit miffed by this bit,

"Please, please don't waste billions and billions of pounds building another white elephant in the Romney Marshes or wherever it is."

He seems to be mixing-up the (absurd) proposed expansion of Lydd with the (absurd) 'Boris Island' scheme.
If this is his grasp of Geography it's no wonder he can't get his planes to land within 50 miles of the advertised destination.

The whole concept of planning permission for national projects is utterly pointless. If someone wants to build a railtrack through my house or an airport nearby its almost certainly not going to be good for me For people who live further away ie the majority of the population its generally high benefically for them.
