Maintaining public funding for Planned Parenthood is worth shutting down the government over?

Frankly, based on experiences discussed in other threads on Planned Parenthood recently, maybe forcing them to rely entirely on private contributions would make them a little less arrogant and a little more responsive to their supporters, which would be a good thing.

There may be a shutdown but it won't last long. Never underestimate the current crop of democrats' ability to get republican legislation passed.

Actually, when an elephant is dying, that is the best time to prod it to make some holes. If you wait until it is totally dead, you risk a build up of gas that can make the elephant explode.

Well, Planned Parenthood as an organization was never at risk, but they can get government payments now.

It's interesting - kind of shows yet again how the religious right is losing its grip on the Republican party to the economic conservatives of the Tea Party.

Edit: also looks like the Environmental Defense Fund's email campaign worked to strip the EPA rider, too. I notice I got responses from both my Democrat senator and my Republican senator to my email on that.
