No Reason To Avoid A Chinese After Pubs Close

A DEAD dog found in a freezer led to a Lincolnshire butcher being warned by environmental health officers.

The Jack Russell was wrapped in a blanket and placed in a box by its owner, awaiting burial.

Boston Borough Council confirmed that Angus Butchers in Boston was given an official caution.

The dog posed no risk to public health, but all the contents of the industrial freezer it was stored in were destroyed.

Safety officers from the council also reassured people over the safety of Chinese food amid rumours circulating around the town.

Principal environmental health officer Trevor Darnes said: "The council hasn't received any recent complaints or allegations relating to food safety matters at local Chinese restaurants.

"It's disappointing to hear such rumours at a time when small businesses are having such a difficult time. There is no reason to avoid Chinese food."

Back when Chinese Buffet Restaurants were at their peak popularity here, a new one opened up in the neighbourhood. I ate there several times, and it was quite good. One day, a co-worker told me this same buffet restaurant had been cited by local health authorities because they had found dead cats in the freezer. Now, I know that some Asian societies eat cats and dogs. I don't find that very appealing, since there seems to be an unwritten social contract that we won't eat animals, such as cats, dogs, horses, that are pets or work for us. But, I also know North Americans who eat squirrels, and I also find that not very appealing.
So, I asked this guy where he got his information from. He couldn't tell me. Being a natural born skeptic, I checked out the local media, and couldn't find any report of inspectors finding cats stored at this place for cooking. Business continued as usual there.
I concluded that other businesses, jealous of their success, had spread nasty rumours.
And, knowing the person who "confided" this info to me to be a bit of a bigot, I totally discounted this allegation as BS.

It doesn't actually bother me. I'm a little more wary when they start introducing Soylent Green but dogs are fine with me....

Only because you will be in it :hehe:
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Beaver bologna is excellent.

I seriously doubt these reports. There are Asian cultures that eat cats and dogs, but these tend to be fishing cultures. In any event, cats and dogs are considered delicacies. Getting cat and dog meat in ordinary Chinese food is about as likely as getting a hamburger from McDonalds made out of Kobe beef or finding that your Imitation Krab was made from finest Alaskan King Crab and processed to be without flavor.

So if there was a dog for food, it was likely being reserved for a special meal for family.

I recall way back in the eighties going to some far eastern restaurant in Brum and buying what looked like sparrow legs. I was drunk and maybe I wasn't as drunk as the others around me who ate these things? Not that it bothered me even then, just there didn't seem to be much meat on the things (and they cost a fortune).

eh :sigh: , dog, cow, cat, whats the difference?
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

What's the thing about dog meat... for those here of West European stock, our Celtic ancestors treated dogs as butchery animals, just like pigs.
