Atheist doctors twice as likely to hasten death
From today's Grauniad. Can't say anything particularly surprising in it, though I would have titled the story "Religious Doctors Twice as Likely to Prolong Suffering".

What about "religious doctors not willing to hear patient's wishes"
"The fact is that far more crime and child abuse has been committed by zealots in the name of God, Jesus and Mohammed than has ever been committed in the name of Satan. Many people don't like that statement but few can argue with it."

One would have thought that religious doctors would be glad to shuffle them along through those pearly gates...

At least they're being roundly criticized in the comments for the title... misleading, wrong context, etc.

I guess it's rare for the doc to recommend termination as the first treatment option.....The Dawktor wrote:Only twice as likely???????????????????![]()

suppose you can hardly blame a religious doctor. They risk burning in hell for all eternity if they cross the line. I don't think I'd risk it, if I believed in it.JimC wrote:One would have thought that religious doctors would be glad to shuffle them along through those pearly gates...

I was rather more likely than those doctors to hasten . . . Um, never mind.

Re: Atheist doctors twice as likely to hasten death
Did anybody read the comments section? It's full of people declaring that this makes religious doctors better than atheistic doctors, whilst getting confused about what atheism is, claiming that their god has a monopoly on morals and making idiotic appeals to popular opinion (one poster commented that there is an afterlife because most people who have lived and who are alive believe in one). The Guardian's readership is surprisingly full of idiots.

Re: Atheist doctors twice as likely to hasten death
Religious doctors often opt for treatments that force the patient to suffer unnecessarily or kill patients very very very slowly IMHO.
Just because more people believe Jesus is the son of God and not the son of Satan does not make it any truer.
