A shame perhaps but Britain is about 91% white isn't it? The distortion really isn't that much.

As a member of the Labour party, I'm getting emails from the leadership candidates now. I haven't decided who to vote for yet but I'm erring towards a "Millibrother". Anyone else have any preferences so far?

Are any of them planning to take Labour back to the left, where they belong? Because that would be my preference - it would at least give people a meaningful choice at the next election.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

Diane Abott seems the most left wing to me (I'm definitely not voting for her as she doesn't have the ability to lead the party IMO)

It's really come to something that the most left-wing candidate in a Labour election battle is a woman who sent her kids off to a private fee-paying school.

No actual real lefties left?

Real socialists don't seek power, thus are not politicians.

The cuts which are coming are going to be so deep that I doubt this government, especially being a coalition, will survive its full term. If they do I suspect it will only be at the cost of keeping control of mounting public rebellion. Given that they are cutting 25% off the police budgets over the next five years it is hard to see how they will manage to though.
