Dominic Monaghan has apologised for his comments about the IRA bombing of Manchester city centre.
The Lost star, who grew up in Stockport (YAY) and Manchester, sparked controversy when he told Los Angeles radio show Petros And Money the terrorist attack in 1996, which injured 200 people, had done his hometown a "favour".

So here's the thing, the guy's absolutely spot on. Manchester city center was a shit hole before it was re-modelled, the biggest controversy was that a succession of politicians and councilors had allowed the city to get in that state in the first place.
Good on yer lad

I agree. The whiners are classic moral outrage in the flesh. The bomb was the best thing that ever happened to Manchester.

Manchester Central MP Tony Lloyd told The Manchester Evening News: "It's a long-standing joke that it did us a favour. But bombs in public places are not a laughing matter."
Bet everyone's glad they voted for that genius.

Yet again the media blows a passing comment way out of proportion

For "sparks controversy" read "One journalist got some rent-an-opinion politician to say something tedious, no-one else in the entire world bothered".
Slow news day I guess.
Monaghan was right, the redevelopment would possibly have never happened without a nudge....
"Irrelevant forum poster sparks controvery by referring to Manchester Bombing as a "nudge". Local MP outraged, etc"
