I don't understand that turn of phrase but what I mean is a lot of people didn't vote for Hitler so to say you are sure we'd've voted for Hitler is incorrect.

Before the Nazis took complete control, certainly yes. But after that, people didn't have too much real say in the matter, and voting "Ja" in elections or plebiscites mainly became an exercise in keeping yourself out of trouble. The Nazis were not above trying to find out (even years after) who had voted against them before they assumed power.

It means it's easy to make a statement about something you would have done or not done with the benefit of hindsight. 92% of people voted for the Nazi party in 1933.. albeit in an impartial election but nevertheless..it's not an unfair assumption that we might have voted for the Nazi party

I'm not sure where you're getting that figure from. The highest I can find on Wiki is 26.5% in 1930 and no figure for 1933. How do you explain such a leap in votes over 3 years?

Unfortunately that doesn't tell us how many people didn't vote at all.

It does, after a fashion. People either voted "Ja", or spoiled their vote in protest. Presumably, voting was mandatory.

I never said that. I was just contesting the phrase "I'm sure we'd all have voted for Hitler as well" but there is no such assurance. I wasn't trying to say I would've because I don't know.

EDIT: "wouldn't've" even.
