I don't know why they're going early; there will be a gun buy-back scheme for semi-auto rifles in NZ, as they did in Oz. When that happened, I was already abandoning shooting due to eyesight issues. I had bought all my guns second-hand - I actually made more from the buy-back than the guns cost me in the first place!
