Why shouldn't my kids get a leg up from me? What the fuck kind of father wouldn't do that? Outboard mechanics charge $125 an hour. Meanwhile that social worker with $150,000 in student loan debt is making $20 an hour with no benefits. It's a no-brainer.

Not everybody has mechanical skills. I would guess about half don't. My dad used to make head gaskets for his Russian cars (Pobeda, Volga) out of head gasket material with nothing cut, using a pocket knife.
