Funny thing is that lower temperatures are forecast for the south of France than for southern Germany, so I will actually, avoid the worst heat by going to Marseille for the weekend.

Well, we've come from delightful high 20's in Port Douglas (albeit with some rain as we left) down to chilly old Melbourne town...

Roll on summer...

Low 20's here today. Gotta love winter in the subtropics.

29C now here at 10:00. The apartment is completely closed and shuttered but still 26C. Thursday will be the hottest day. Was out at eight for a walk in the woods and round the lake. There was a cool breeze.

It 36C now. Inside 29C. It is still not reached max. We are apparently moving into record territory. I am on the coast but it is a south easterly wind blowing from Morocco. Cars are getting covered in sand.

Well I dont know about a Dutch oven as I have never been in one. Today is looking hotter. Already 35C at 12:30. Pastis is tasting well. The aniseed goes well with the heat. Some poor bugger outside is fixing some cables. I dont envy him one bit.

Just tipping at 40C outside. Cant open a window as the hot air just streams in. It is the depth of the apartment that is saving us.
