Actually I was taught the trick there. You dont walk straight up as the steps are not designed for that and are not deep enough. You walk up at an angle placing your whole foot onto the step. It is relatively easy. The bannisters are a modern addition and are not required. The Moon pyramid is a doddle in comparison.
A weird place though it was 48C when I was there and no shadow anywhere. The people who lived there used to collect the rain water that fell once a year. It thought that is why they left as the rains were not very consistent.
Same trick applies to any hill or mountain. Only a dutchman would need teaching it.

I'd take a guess It's to reduce the pressure on the gallery below ..........anyone who claims ET taught the Egyptians how to build might want to explain the ARCH ..or lack of it .
