Three tornadoes confirmed in northeastern Iowa

Three tornadoes touched down in northeast Iowa Monday evening, weather officials said.

All three had EF1 strength, with winds ranging from 90 to 110 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. Two of the tornadoes were from the same storm; they touched down west and then east of Clarksville at about 8 p.m., traveling about three miles on the ground and destroying at least one house.

At about 9:30 p.m., another tornado reached the ground south of Lamont in Buchanan County and remained on the ground for 17 miles, traveling east to an area south of Edgewood in Delaware County. Grain bins and hog confinements were severely damaged or destroyed.
