West Mercia Police 'wrong to Taser man on roof'

Two officers have had misconduct charges upheld after a man fell from a roof after being Tasered in 2012.

The man was armed with a knife and hammer on a roof in Worcester, threatening to harm himself, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said.

Trying to detain him under the Mental Health Act, an officer Tasered him, despite a negotiator being on the way.

He suffered minor injuries in the 8ft fall and made a complaint.

He said officers had not warned him in advance that the device would be used.

The IPCC concluded there was a case for misconduct and, at a hearing earlier this month, West Mercia Police upheld the charge.

An inspector and sergeant received management advice for authorising its use to a third officer, who was himself cleared of any wrongdoing.

The main point in the long run it doesn't really matter if the police were wrong or right to use a taser. If they had been carrying a firearm it may have been a very different matter

In the US, it's a two-week paid vacation for any cop who kills somebody in iffy circumstances. They have to wait a bit longer for the promotion.

I haven't got much sympathy with the loony. And he only fell eight feet.

But this illustrates the lies that you are told by the ''establishment'', and how they get away with it.
When they brought in the use of the Taser, they said it was as a step DOWN, from guns.
To give the cops a lower level option of defence of self or the public. They were supposed to use it in circumstances that would normally have resulted in shots fired.

The opponents at the time said that that was a lie, and it would be used UP, instead of less lethal forms of self defence by police, like baton and pepper spray.

It's pretty obvious now, which way it has gone. But you won't get any apology from the people who promised that this wouldn't happen.
They told their lies, got what they wanted, and disappeared.

What SHOULD happen now, is that the Taser should be removed from the police.
It was brought in under false pretences.
