It's easy to see globalisation as a relentless, evil behemoth, chewing up everything in its path. But here is a man from terribly humble origins that was able, thanks to the ease of global communication (and a hefty slice of personal obsession), to build a machine that is bringing hygienic sanitary towels to women throughout the poorest parts of his native India, providing employment to thousands and making one of the crappiest parts of the world just a little bit less so. And he has global ambitions - not for personal economic reasons - just because there are a lot of lives out there that could be little bit better and he knows how to do it.
There are nowhere near enough stories like this in the media. But there ought to be. Because small yet incredibly important things like this are happening throughout the world on a daily basis.
I'm sorry, Scumple. I know how much you love relentless misery. But the trend is upwards*. Even if many of us only notice the setbacks.

* Until the dollar collapse, obviously.
