I don't get what the fuss is about.
There were seventeen Danish zoos last year, that had to euthenase a giraffe called Marius.

It's happening all the time, as a result of global warming.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

edit: Holy shit! I see what's going on...

They fucking hate giraffes, the Danes. Something to do with the Schleswig-Holstein kerfuffle.

They're a lot taller than the Swedes, I suppose? :ask:

Probably. Not as tall as some of the Danes, though.

And more. The human Danes from the Hune area in particular. I delivered a container of Italian fruit juices to a trader in Sydney once. Hand-unload stuff. All 20 tons of it. The owner used to engage ten or so labourers from the local dole office to get the boxes out of the container and stacked into his warehouse. The owner's son would kneel on the top of the stack and place the cartons in an orderly fashion until the stack was about a metre within the four metre high ceiling. On this occasion there was a Dane of truly hunelike proportions who was in Australia on a six month working visa. The son had said something the Dane took exception to. The Dane took position at the end of the daisy chain of unloaders. His task was to pass the cartons up to the son. He proceeded to lob them up as fast as the others could hand them to him. The poor bloke at the receiving end had to actually stop them from hitting the ceiling. He was struggling to place the cartons to turn around in time to catch the next one that was threatening to go into orbit. In the end he was so pooped that he was too late for a couple. They smashed onto the ground. This was after almost all of the 20 tons were done. Hearing the sound of smashing glass dad stepped in and told the Dane to slow down, or he won't get paid.
