There is maybe one song, Some Other Guy, that the Beatles managed to record in the Cavern in a form you can listen to. In the years the Beatles toured the world, Liverpool still had music, and The Big Three, Beatles contemporaries, managed to record an EP. Both the drummer (leader) and Gustafson sang. Johnny Gustafson of the band made it to big time as bass player of Roxy Music for 4 albums. I think Paul Mccarney bought their bass amp and speaker to tour the first couple of years. It was rejected by Abbey Road as not recordable. The Big three were signed by Decca, who had changed their mind. With the Beatles audition, they had decided guitar groups were on their way out and were not worth promoting,

this got some UK fame

Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late

The coffin speaker maker for Beatle Paul was actually guitarist Adrian Barber. There are very few recordings of him. He became an engineer and producer, making several debut albums with US bands. He produced this.

If you have old versions of Cream CDs, the first versions were really muddy in sound. Even worse than the LP. I had to purchase the remaster of this, despite the album having only 3 studio tracks. I had a 4 CD Cream box that had every title. A good part of Cream multitracks burned up in the huge Hollywood fire.

this is the only known live take of the song

George Harrison helped Clapton put the song together, and played rhythm. George scribbled "bridge" in the 8 bar bridge section. The people compiling the song for the album thought it read Badge and titled it that. The lyrics are mostly stream of consciousness. I think they used drugs!

Roger Waters helping our Cream cover. Jack Bruce (bass) was dead by then. Ronnie Wood doing a little psychedelia thing. Cream is now one guy: Clapton

the wears a gunner line (printed everywhere) really was stupid, the guy was going to be a daddy
Dainties in a jam-jar parson's colour in the sky.
Water in a fountain doesn't get me very high.
Moby Dick and Albert making out with Captain Bligh.
So you know what you know in your head.
Will you, won't you, do you, don't you know when a head's dead?
What a bringdown!

Winter leader Lou is growin' 'Ampsteads in the North.
Betty B's been wearin' daisies since the twenty-fourth.
Wears a gunner when there's one more coming forth.
And you know what you know in your head.
Will you, won't you, do you, don't you want to go to bed?
What a bringdown!

There's a tea-leaf about in the family,
Full of nothin' their fairy tale.
There's a tea-leaf a-floatin' now for Rosalie,
They'll believe in ding-dong bell.

Take a butchers at the dodginesses of old Bill.
Aristotle's orchestra are living on the pill.
One of them gets very very prickly when he's ill.
And you know what you know in your head.
Will you, won't you, do you, don't you want to make more bread?
What a bringdown!

Sorry, but the lyric is: Little Leta Lou's been growing hampsteads in the north (she's growing nuggies, what with being a teen and all that). Nettie Bea's been wearing daisies since the twenty-fourth (need no for explanation, we all know what it means when a young lady wears daisies). Where's it gonna end, there's one more coming forth (Ginger's son, who was yet to be born). Thank you for attention to this, and for "Od's sake get it right!
We did those cuts after we decided to break up. That was after the last tour - the farewell tour. We were told by Atlantic [Records] that we didn't really have enough live stuff to release on the Goodbye album that was acceptable. So we had to go into the studio and cut some tracks after the tour. We all had bits of songs, so we went into the studio in L.A. and cut them - all in the space of three or four days.

Ginger Baker, drummer, was not much of a singer, but them being short a song he wrote those lyrics. Ginger is heard talking through

Guardian writer Jack Malcolm suggested that the song can be read "as an art-pop rumination on the existential ticking time bomb of unchecked consumerism and advancing age".[7] According to AllMusic critic Steve Huey, the lyrics address "the drudgery of living life according to social expectations, and pursuing commonly accepted trophies (a large automobile, beautiful house, beautiful wife)".[6] Although the singer has these trophies, he questions whether they are real and how he acquired them, a kind of existential crisis.[8]

Byrne denied that the lyrics address yuppie greed and said the song was about the unconscious: "We operate half-awake or on autopilot and end up, whatever, with a house and family and job and everything else, and we haven't really stopped to ask ourselves, 'How did I get here?'
