From what I've read it was the acid. I was on that slippery slope myself and I can see how easy it would have been to lose an anchor of some sort in this so called 'reality', which was how I thought of my 'ordinary' mind.

My best mate even today (we met up last year) was from that era. He never really did come back and he has a very strange take on things even today!
