The Force is strong in him. Tremendous alternate picking chops does Guthrie have.

OK, I went completely overboard and ordered two of them Aristocrats albums. From evil Amazon. Two so I get free shipping. I have been an Amazon customer some 20 years. Some of my reviews that old are still there.

Just coming on to one year since getting into guitar. Sharing some improv so you can gauge how I'm getting on. :)

Had a load of guitar fun today on Reaper. I found out you could set it to automate plugins at certain points of a track and experimented with it.

I downloaded a backing track of Smells Like Teen Spirit (keeping the first creation simple) which is the original song minus the guitar. I then added a second track to play on using the Archetype: Nolly amp simulator and selected a nice, crunchy amp for the 8 bar intro. Then at the beginning of the last beat the virtual distortion pedal kicks in with a drive level of 0 going to 100 by the start of the 9th bar as the heavy part kicks in.

At bar 17 the distortion fades and a ping-pong delay rings in the first verse. This is joined by distortion for the chorus build up. At the chorus delay is removed.

Repeat for another verse and chorus then a second, different type of distortion kicks in to make the bridge rumble like thunder.

After this the guitar switches to another track which uses a lead amp with a flanger effect for the solo before switching back to the original for the final verse and chorus.

So I can play guitar from start to finish and the sound changes dynamically, automatically, as I play through it.

The potential here is great. You could essentially plug another guitar, a bass, and a vocalist into an audio interface and through their own automated tracks, and resting in their own sonic soace, and from there into a PA without the need of heavy amps or a tangle of wires and pedals. And your sound remains the same so less engineering.
