I know some people see it as sacrilege, but I much prefer these new stereo versions. They almost make me like listening to The Beatles.

I grew up in a stereo world where mono was something you got from kissing people. I hope more old records get this treatment.

Inauthentic. Paying twice and then some to listen to Beatles after being put through a modern electronic filter so it sounds pristine and bland like everything else in the pop music marketplace these days? Soon have the originals going for a fortune. Money pumping gimmick. What to do when the market place is full of these vampire records feeding on original genius? Except to make a fortune selling the originals unremastered again? Like the movie says - some folks will pay extra for the real thing.

He is my age. He makes a good point about the stereo mixes. The stereo was rather primitive or novel in the 1960s. We did get stereo eventually, but a lot of the songs had been played on radio for years. We were used to mono mostly. I did have headphones by 1969 to spare my parents having to listen to...Pink Floyd. But anyway, when we old timers hear the stereo, the vocals have to be in the middle. If they are a bit off the middle, but middle is what we prefer. Put that other stuff on the edges. The drums, then are the problem. We want those in the middle too! Because the Beatles stereo mixes do not have the vocals in the middle for the most part, I don't like to play them on headphones. I am OK with them on speakers.

I have the discs in hand now. The ending of I Am The Walrus is a bit odd. But this song Giles really ruined.


The drums are supposed to be clinking thru it the whole song. With the piano.
