Cocept albums: The Wall, Tommy

Post by Tero » Sat Dec 29, 2012 6:02 pm

Albums about deep experiences. On has a traumatic childhood experiences, kiddie fiddling Uncle Earnie, Gypsy as played by Tina Turner, etc. The other one I have not figured out. Vote for one. As either the preferred or more meaningful one.

You have 4 options. You can't vote all 5.

The Wall is superior to Tommy as a concept, in my opinion. Though G's surprise Alice Cooper entry is a good one in so far as the concept is obvious and the songs relevant to it. The Lamb is my least favourite Gabriel Era.

Mine would be "Histoire De Melody Nelson."

Followed closely by "Infected" by The The.
"What started as a legitimate effort by the townspeople of Salem to identify, capture and kill those who did Satan's bidding quickly deteriorated into a witch hunt" Army Man

I think From the Inside is more a concept album from Alice than Nightmare :ask: Of the ones mentioned by Tero, I favor The Wall. I never cared for Tommy. It never seemed up to snuff musically to me. And I don't even know the others he mentioned.

Pretty much every Pink Floyd album is a concept album, isn't it? I prefer Animals over The Wall, though I do very much like The Wall.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Could you consider Songs From the Wood a concept album? :ask:

I even liked Underture. But after 10 listenings, I could not play the whole thing anymore, due to the lyrics. I've reduced it to 5 songs. Underture I've stuck by itself on assorted playlists.

Other than the cute small titties, penis song etc., 200 Motels was mostly about the terrible food in England

When it comes to concept albums by The Who, there can be only one - and it's not Tommy! Quadrophenia is far superior and has aged immeasurably better!

I didn't get that either. It was basically about being young? Mods and rockers?

I was going to say just that. I was obsessed with the album as a teenager, and it's still one of my favourites - still a fantastic hunk of music-making.
