Just got tickets for Dweezil Zappa!

Post by Rum » Fri Sep 28, 2012 9:18 pm

As a huge fan I always wanted to see Frank live - and promised myself I would, but sadly the bastard died on me before I could.

Dweezil, his son. is actually as good if not better a guitarist as his dad, if not as gifted with composition. Anyway in the absence of the opportunity of seeing Frank I booked tickets for Dweezil and they arrived today! My daughter, who is musically very adventurous and exploratory, is coming too. he is on tour and we are seeing him in Gateshead at the Sage centre.

BTW if you are a FZ fan and you doubt Dwezil's credentials, take a look.

Go for it. I was going to drag my son to one, but he is quite confused about what Zappa was about. Come to think of it, it took me years to figure out pooty. Poodle lecture I got the first time.

Only saw Daddy Zappa once, 1974. He did some mime with an air mattress and blow up doll.

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Seem them 3 times - they are a worthy successor to Frank - check out Scheila Gonzalez on... pretty much everything! She is unbelievably talented!

Sadly, I don't have funds to go and see them this time around - it was this or Cardiff and I chose Ratz.

Well my daughter and I went to see him (them) last night. What an amazing concert! Six people, all able to play multiple instruments and Dweezil playing guitar as well I would say, as his dad.

However I realised he is not playing in a tribute band any more. he is playing his father's music and making it his own.

I was hugely impressed and marvellously entertained! Fantastic evening!
