inexplicably popular songs you can't fucking stand

Post by tattuchu » Sun Sep 23, 2012 6:04 pm

Sometimes it seems like the shittier a song is, the more popular it is. Here are some songs I hate so fucking much that I'll actually change the station or shut the radio off when they play.

"China Grove" -Doobie Brothers
"All Right Now" -Free
"She's So Cold" -Rolling Stones
"Start Me Up" -Rolling Stones
"Jump" -Van Halen
"Freeze Frame" -J Geils Band

I'll add more if I think of them. Feel free to add your own. Popular but shitty, or popular but you can't fucking stand them.

p.s. Oh, and I mean songs within the type of music you ordinarily listen to. Like I'm talking about classic rock, which is the station I listen to for lack of anything else better. Of course we could all pick out a Justin Beiber song or something, but that would be cheating. That's too easy, and not really inexplicable.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

It's only a few years ago that I realized the Rolling Stones song is called Start Me Up, not Stappioh

I'm not a big Rolling Stones fan but there are plenty of their songs I like, and even a few I love. But then they'd put out the shittiest song of their career, like "Start Me Up," and it's their most popular ever :what:

I wouldn't be quite as extreme as Cormac, but it's a good starting point. Whenever I happen to listen to modern chart music (which is mercifully rare), my immediate reaction is always "WTF ????????" :what:

"Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba. It's been about 15 years since it was popular, but it can still get me like nails on a chalkboard. Hate, hate, HATE!!!

Christ, I'd clean forgotten about that. Now you've inserted it back into my consciousness. :lay:

Those bastards murdered The Bottle. This is what it should sound like:
