Is the the best rock song of all time?
I heard this for the first time ever on the radio today. I don't know how the hell I have not heard it before. It has immediately gone to the top of my all time favourite rock tracks (and I'm not all that crazy about AC/DC either..well until now).

AC/DC did a lot of catchy, anthemic stuff. I used to quite like them but kind of moved on from it a good few years ago.
I think the best thing about the band were Bon Scott's vocals.

No, it was recorded in 1968 by the Stones. Sort of. Brian was nearly dead, but appears on sigle cover. Brian's replacement had been hired, for next album. Keef played guitars and bass. Single did not even make it to the album.

The next 4 of my top 5 are all by the famous boy band from Liverpool.

Is it a trick question?

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

I'm talking about hard rock. I agree that the Beatles in terms of overall 'pop' music were of course better..light years!Tero wrote:No, it was recorded in about 70 by the Stones. Sort of. Rock is all rock. The bell shape vurve moved harder un the 70s to so called arena rock, more anthemic than the whole 60s.

This, of course, has to rank very high on the list:

I think that language has a lot to do with interfering in our relationship to direct experience. A simple thing like metaphor will allows you to go to a place and say 'this is like that'. Well, this isn't like that. This is like this.

I actually still rather like this electrically ambivalent band. But that piece seems to be quite mediocre. Pieces like thunderstruck deliver much more both from the guitar and vocals.

I don't have enough on the phone here to compile 5 bands 5 songs, but we could try for that.
But Rush would have to go with Working Man, despite better lyrics later.
I guess I need riffs. For Tull the ultimate riff is To Cry You A Song, not Aqualung with the bad lyrics.

No. It's too short on melody, by a long way, and the best rock songs have that as well as the whole catchy riff thing. In fact I don't even think it's ACDC's best song.
Mine would probably also be Stones. Maybe Gimme Shelter or something. Beatles? Pah... that's not rock, it's M.O.R.
