It'd make a nice filler on a middling chill out album. Plenty of double entendres which shows the wordsmith was smart enough to not want to godbomb his intended streetwise audience. I don't think it was particularly overkill on the religious side...I mean it was there but if seen as the transient cultural artifact it almost certainly is, not that big a deal.
