Bought the Columbia Miles Davis box set. Got most of it on CD but nice to have everything in a box. Value must go up, and so I'm not sure whether to remove the plastic wrapper, open it up or listen to my already fairly comprehensive CD collection outside?

I got most of that on vinyl first time round. Then I bought it all again on CD. Then I ripped the CD to MP3. And now I listen to it via a streaming service.

Most jazz is too difficult for me. It strikes me as being more fun to play than listen to, which is an odd thing for music to be.

That's ok. Nobody's prefect! Image

Jazz is a tradition, rather than a genre per se.

Maybe you didn't do enough drugs. Back in the day, eating shrooms and listening to Bitches Brew was like a religious experience for me.

Also, my first instrument was tenor sax, so that probably pushed me toward liking jazz...

You should give Kind Of Blue a listen. You can probably find it in full on youtube. It's a great album and very accessible. It was even in a Clint Eastwood movie...
