Raymond Scott - whom most people probably only know from cartoons.

He was also the pioneer of electronic music.

If you know Steve Reich you may have gotten used to his style but if not you may find this very odd indeed. Personally he is a real favourite. More of his music on Youtube.

It used to be the only CD of his music available but since its release interest soared and a few others have come out - but this one is the penultimate.

Thanks, Rum, for the Steve Reich tip, I like it.

Re: Incredibly Strange Music
If you want strange, you need look no further than Conlon Nancarrow. This piece (in common with most of his later work) was written for the "player piano", a mechanically altered piano made to play music automatically by means of rolls of paper with punched holes. Nancarrow spent months hand-punching the holes to create his pieces. This was sequencing before there was such a word!
This is one of his earlier, more accessible attempts.
And here's something a little later.

A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.
