Re: The Frank Zappa thread
That very same song was also recorded in Helsinki in 1973, almost identical except the guitar solo. But there is no video.
International disaster, gonna be a blaster
Gonna rearrange our lives
International disaster, send for the master
Don't wait to see the white of his eyes
International disaster, international disaster
Price of silver droppin' so do yer Christmas shopping
Before you lose the chance to score (Pembroke)
Gonna rearrange our lives

Re: The Frank Zappa thread
Hey Cunt, I'm playing a podcast! Neil Innes' favorite album:
Neil joins me to talk about Frank Zappa’s classic commentary on the Summer of Love and response to Sgt Pepper, ‘We’re Only In It For the Money’. We talk about how the album balances satire and music inventiveness, how Zappa misunderstood one of Neil’s songs while reviewing it, when the Bonzo’s hung out with the Mothers of Invention in the US and the kinship they felt...

Re: The Frank Zappa thread
College orchestra kid plays a better Pygmy Twylyte solo than Dweezil in any of his sets. Though tapping is a bit of a no no. Zappa did not need any tapping.

Re: The Frank Zappa thread
This is already in the "instrument" thread. Here with sheet music. The sheet music is the melody line, the drum part is different.

Re: The Frank Zappa thread
....the documentary is packed with never-before-seen footage of the legendary rock polymath: composer, guitar god, father to the Mothers of Invention, free-speech activist, humorist, satirist, author, occasional actor, beloved late-night guest, and Czechoslovakia’s one-time Special Ambassador to the West on Trade, Culture, and Tourism.
SNL skit
“I thought the whole skit sucked myself, and I was stuck doing it,” Zappa says in the doc. “They wouldn’t let me write anything for the show.” Previously a musical guest in 1976, Zappa never returned to SNL following the 1978 hosting debacle.

Re: The Frank Zappa thread
The Zappa site where you deal with torrents mostly, but has some discussion, finally solved Manny the Camper mystery:
"To me there are two readings to the lyrics of Wind Up Working In A Gas Station, both of which refer to the effectiveness of higher education.
The first is that formal education won't get you a well paid job and that you'll end up selling white kerosene to a random person called Manny (which just happens to be a Jewish name). Manny is driving a camper van (RV).
The second reading is that your formal education will only get you a job where you have to do what you are told - you have to follow orders "For all your education, you'll wind up... "
The song just has WHITE
Wind up workin' in a gas station
Wind up workin' in a gas station
Wind up workin' in a gas station
Wind up workin' in a gas station
Pumpin' the gas every night
Pumpin' the gas every night
Wind up workin' in a gas station
Wind up workin' in a gas station
Pumpin' the gas every night
Pumpin' the gas every night
Wind up workin' in a gas station
Wind up workin' in a gas station
Manny de Camper vants to buy some vite
(Wind up workin' in a gas station
Wind up workin' in a gas station)
(Fish!)
People were connecting WHITE and FISH as whitefish, but the clues was just that Manny wants to buy the white kerosene so he can cook his FISH.
