I have to say that, though .. my music to chill to has become as wide and varied as my taste in music ... One of my favourites ..

I'm stuck in orchestral music 1870-1950.

Last one I found is some Estonian named Tubin. Imagine composing a symphony in a modest townhouse or apartment in Sweden.

Oh, yes.

Handel seems to have had the knack for that sort of thing.

Here's another enjoyable short piece of his that is part of a larger opus. A bit more uptempo, though. He wrote it to cover the noises made by a change of scenery in preparation for Act 3 of Solomon.

One day I may be old enough to chill out to the entire oratorio. It takes up almost three hours.

Hey Ani. Don't fret. I've always been a sad trendy type who likes new music "before it was cool" sort of thing. Really there has been fuck all out there in the last 18 months that is any more than "meh, it's alright... sounds a bit too much like..."

I listen to 1 (gods that sucks) to 6 and Last.FM.

I've got a 4,000 song playlist and I'm bored with every part of it. Even the flourishes of Donizetti, Brubeck, and country classics don't liven it up.

Keeping your music fresh takes time and energy that I just haven't been arsed to spend lately. (I was participating in a new music thread, but half of it was music from video games. :ani: )

I'm OK with new bands and all. But I have a problem with the shows. Indoor ones especially. There are no more dynamics. All is played at full volume and that makes almost every band that plays a hockey arena sound the same. I could still do clubs, but has not happened for a while.

Well, since people are posting opera, here's the divine Natalie Dessay,
singing an aria from one of my favorites:

Ani, I think you might like it. Look! There are giant eyeballs floating in a random puddle downstage!

spins blindly in the dark
so close to annihilation.
