A Honest Critique of Lou Reeds 'Metal Machine Music'
WTF! vs Masterpiece
Pure Marmite this one....does require drugs and alcohol, for full appreciation, more than likely. To get close to what the artist is saying here....?

Bought this when it came out. It's utter garbage, a complete piss-take along the lines of Warhol's Empire movie or Malevich's White on White. Just an excuse for the avant garde to sneer at those who don't understand the depth of the artistic expression.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Those guys out of the Factory were really up themselves - at least some of them and really thought they were doing 'avant-garde art'. At least Warhol had a sense of honesty about it. He didn't pretend he was anything other than what he was.

I wouldn't say that. I'd say it was dribblingly self indulgent tepid stool water - which ironically was Reed's intoxicant of choice at the time.laklak wrote:Bought this when it came out. It's utter garbage.
And I'm speaking as a fan here.
