I might be a musician, here's some sounds

Post by rachelbean » Fri May 29, 2015 11:33 am

As a motivation to myself I am posting some of my old music. I have recently taken up a couple challenges (learning spanish and walking a minimum of five miles a day) and thought I should really add one more to the list, which is play music for at least a half hour a day. Singing is really something that makes me happier than anything else and it's a great outlet but I've really neglected it the last few years, so starting tomorrow that's my challenge.

So yes, anyway, if you want to listen to some of me:

You have a beautiful voice, you can keep time and you can stay in tune.

This may sound like an underhanded compliment, but it's not: You have a lot more potential that can be realised with some professional voice training and breath control. It will add dynamism and round your talent for singing out with more technical skill. Don't worry - it won't kill the soulfulness in the process. It'll just add to the depth you already have.

I appreciate the thought, but I took years of voice training  These are some old tracks that were literally just quick rehearsal. I'll just go kill myself now :leave:

Don't top yourself just yet. Refresher course? Joan Sutherland kept up with her voice exercises even while she was giving master classes herself. I think most good singers feel it's necessary.

No, I'm not really interested in lessons at this point in my life. I want to make noise and if people enjoy it, cool. If not, well at least I like my own company :tea:

I really enjoyed listening to your singing, Rachel. Thanks!

Pow! That's a classic voice trying to hide in that forest of overtones, RachaelBeans.

Turn that damn guitar down and put the liquid fuller timbers of your voice up front. You have pretty good pitch, fantastic movement and fluidity, and a rich-to-sweet tone to die for. And it really shows best when you put your voice in front of that guitar and spit it like you do in Meaningless.

Cool to watch you in action. The jangly guitar and the vocals in that vid reminded me pleasantly of Harriet Wheeler of The Sundays.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.
