There was a lot of his music I didn't like. But I conducted some that I did like - very much - and enjoyed it immensely. I also met the man a few times, and was always struck by his undiminished enthusiasm.
I think that language has a lot to do with interfering in our relationship to direct experience. A simple thing like metaphor will allows you to go to a place and say 'this is like that'. Well, this isn't like that. This is like this.

He was 103.

His assistant, Virgil Blackwell, confirmed the death but did not disclose an immediate cause.
My money is on a bungee jump accident.
