My other favourite two bands from the last few years are probably Black Keys and Fleet Foxes:

I really like the construction of that! The lyrics are a bit cliche but the very slow burn build up is excellent.

That 'Gold on the Ceiling' is fab. Great tune! Not heard that before. I shall investigate them further. Thank you.

The Fleet Foxes left me cold really. I'm quite happy to see a performance of folky stuff, but for some reason recordings just don't connect to me. I need to see the performer responding to the song, the crowd for that type of music to come alive. I feel the same about over-produced punk as well. Recordings that are completely live (mistakes, warts and all) have a passion that "vocal take 32" just can't have.

This is probably a dumb question, but do you ever listen to Lucinda Williams?

Pretty much all her stuff's good. And more on the "warts and all" side of things
The green careening planet
spins blindly in the dark
so close to annihilation.

Listen. No one listens. Meow.
