Aimee Mann

Post by tattuchu » Sat Sep 08, 2012 4:31 pm

I looooove Aimee Mann. She is awesome. She was awesome in Til Tuesday, and she's awesome solo. Well I think of her as awesome. But I got one or two of her albums and I really didn't like them all that much :? But I gave her another try with Bachelor no 2, and that is in fact one of my favorite albums of all time of any artist in my collection.

Is anyone familiar with Aimee? Can you tell me what other albums are particularly good? Point me in the right direction? :ask:

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

"Voices Carry" was Til Tuesday's bit hit, of course, but this one is my favorite:

She is one of the few ladies in my iTunes. She is really lucky in that she has made a large part of her living off of movie soundtracks and kept touring mostly local and working with other talented musicians on collaborations, which is the kind of career I would choose if I could choose one in music. Magnolia is one of my favourite movies and her music is such a huge part of it.

IIRC, freaking Phil Collins won the Oscar that year over AM. What??? That movie was in fact written around her album (Bachelor #2-- one of my favorites, too.) I can't think of another movie, save maybe The Graduate, where the soundtrack was more important to the experience of the film.

Tarzan? Tarzan had a better soundtrack?

:irate: I was so mad!

(Sorry, Tatt- no album suggestions beyond what you've got already. :pardon: )

Just going by the first song posted - she's completely middle of the road. She sounds nothing like her look. Perhaps she should look more like Dido?
