That song illustrates to me the problem with the term "date rape." I mean - that was "rape." I think the term "date rape" muddles the issue.

Here is one that isn't "distasteful" (well, it might be, depending on who you're with...), but funny:

Aw! Back when Bryan Adams wasn't embarrassing! I used to sing that with my girlfriends, driving around in high school. We did wonder about it-- since he was not old enough himself to be part of the summer of love.

Re date rape- I agree with you, it's a bad term. Rape is rape. Date rape sounds like Rape Lite. There's a term, "gray rape," that i have similar problems with.

People want a term to describe rape when it's not a stranger attacking you from behind the bushes. We wouldn't need it if people understood that most of the time people are raped by someone they know.
