There is no solution here. No registration, no tracking down loonies with guns, no tracking down sudden stockpiles of weapons.

Simple message for simple folks: more guns better.
For a start, only life members and those who have been in the NRA for five years or more can vote in its elections.

The NRA claims to be a grassroots organisation driven by the popular will of its 4 million-plus members. But real power lies in the hands of a few executives, a shadowy committee which tightly controls elections to the NRA’s board of directors and a public relations company that for three decades has driven the organisation’s uncompromising opposition to any form of gun control
.

Propaganda machinery simply selling Fox propaganda to folks who buy into Fox propaganda anyway. The dynamic duo: NRA and FOX
“What you saw at the time was a change of tone in the NRA’s publications: ‘the final war has begun’ and ‘jackbooted government thugs’. That’s taking the risk that this rhetoric can inflame and even validate the views of the well-armed far right and you’re just gambling that no one is going to take you seriously,” he said. “This all ended in Oklahoma City when Timothy McVeigh basically took the NRA at its word and bombed the Murrah building. The final war had begun, the NRA said, and McVeigh chose the date.”

Question: If there are no loonies with guns, what cause will those with guns armed against potential loonies with-guns find to continue their existence or will they peacefully disarm? I suspect they will become a new breed of loonies-with-guns myself, but I am open and hopeful to being proved wrong.

Why would they need to disarm? The vast majority of guns in the US, some 99.9996 percent of them rest peacefully in their gun safes and racks doing nothing at all other than perhaps shoot an animal or two or put holes in paper and tin cans. If the day ever comes when violent criminality is extirpated utterly, and the government can absolutely guarantee the individual personal safety from such crimes of every single individual on the planet, then the guns will just to into the gun safe with the rest of them...just in case things don't continue to work out peacefully.

The NRA is, to a large extent, financed by the gun manufacturers, and do what those manufacturers tell them. This means that they are an extension of the gun makers marketing.

Liar.
For a start, only life members and those who have been in the NRA for five years or more can vote in its elections.
That's the rule, and it's there so sleeper agents cannot pay a few bucks and then skew the vote.
Another lie. Actually several lies stacked on top of each other.
Propaganda machinery simply selling Fox propaganda to folks who buy into Fox propaganda anyway. The dynamic duo: NRA and FOX
So who controls who? Does the NRA control Fox, or is Fox the lackey of the NRA? Make up your mind.
“What you saw at the time was a change of tone in the NRA’s publications: ‘the final war has begun’ and ‘jackbooted government thugs’.

That's because that was exactly what was happening and the NRA membership voted to oppose those attempts.

That’s taking the risk that this rhetoric can inflame and even validate the views of the well-armed far right and you’re just gambling that no one is going to take you seriously,” he said.
And left-wing radical propaganda never incites Marxist left-wing violence I suppose. :fp:
“This all ended in Oklahoma City when Timothy McVeigh basically took the NRA at its word and bombed the Murrah building. The final war had begun, the NRA said, and McVeigh chose the date.”
Which of course is yet another left-wing propaganda lie. If anyone is to blame for McVeigh it's the left-wing Marxist/socialist/progressives of the nation who daily threaten our fundamental civil liberties using, wait for it, government jackbooted thugs like the New Jersey State Police, who wear jackboots, who used registration lists of "assault weapons" that naive gun owners obediently signed on to on the solemn promise of the Governor that such lists would NEVER be used to confiscate the guns to go out and confiscate those guns a mere three years later.

You're full of shit as usual.

Er, there are always Marxists, their useful idiots and Islamic terrorists we need to keep under control. The good news is that useful idiots don't have guns.

It's a fundamental principle of wildlife management that culling a species to maintain harmony with the environment is a good thing to do from time to time.

The same thing can be said of politics.

Er, there are always Marxists
Of course! I'm always forgetting about the Marxists at the gate.. Well as Benjamin Franklin said "Political power flows from the barrel of a musket".

So, Seth, you think that those on the terror watch list, which could be just like the couple in California, should not be prevented from buying guns; you would have to say this, if you followed the NRA line...

Your virulent anti-muslim rhetoric and your virulent pro-gun rhetoric may have found an area where they can have a little battle inside your skull...

No, not at all. I just agree with Senate Republicans and the NRA that the current no-fly list (which is NOT the "terrorist watch list") does not include adequate safeguards and due process with respect to the civil rights of those placed on it in error or by mistake of identity, and that therefore using that list to deny a US citizen his or her fundamental right to keep and bear arms is unacceptable. Change the no-fly list system by providing adequate oversight, checks and balances and due process of law for those (to be) placed on the list so that innocent people who happen to have the same name and birthday as a legitimate no-fly suspect or who are wrongfully placed on that list are not unconstitutionally denied their fundamental civil rights, including the right to board a private aircraft or own a gun, and I won't have a problem and neither will Congress. But that's not what the Democrats want. They don't care about civil rights at all, they just want another of the thousand cuts by which they intend to infringe on the rights of ALL Americans in their quest for gun bans.

It is more than a little humorous that one of the arch-enemies of an armed citizenry, Teddy Kennedy, was on the no-fly list and had endless headaches trying to travel by plane.

Now, if the system is reformed to prevent miscarriages of justice and arbitrary denial of civil rights then I'm fine with a no-fly list and I'm fine with denying persons on that list the right to keep and bear arms at all, not just the right to buy them. On the other hand, if someone is enough of a danger to the public to justify putting them on a no-fly list legitimately, why are they still at large? If they pose such a danger they should be in custody and/or deported. Thus, there is in reality no need at all for a "no-fly list" because all such persons should be in custody or not in this country and not allowed to enter it, which of course must be ensured by first securing the borders of this nation, using whatever degree of force is required to prevent illegal border crossings, up to and including deadly physical force.
Your virulent anti-muslim rhetoric and your virulent pro-gun rhetoric may have found an area where they can have a little battle inside your skull...
Nope. I just know more than you do about the situation because I study such things carefully before I write about them, whereas you just pull crap out of your ass and post it, thinking that it's truth, which most often it's not, as I demonstrate pretty much each and every time you splatter your shit about.

NRA Sets 1,000 Killed In School Shooting As Amount It Would Take For Them To Reconsider Much Of Anything

'Yeah, Something Like 1,000 Dead Kids,' Reports Spokesperson

While some believed that LaPierre's remarks finally indicated a slight loosening of the NRA's pro-gun stance, LaPierre was forced to clarify his comments after his membership criticized him for introducing the idea that a playground full of bullet-riddled dead kids might cause the NRA to reconsider their position on gun control if even for a second.

"At the end of the day, I want to make it very clear that the NRA is in absolutely no rush to change anything," LaPierre later said in a written statement.
