Beg pardon? I don't get this. To start with, I thought most modern opioids could be synthetized without real need for poppy opium (even though I guess that having that at hand makes things easier, as it's a matter of refining rather than synthetizing).

Oxycontin, buprenorphine, naloxone are all made from morphine/codeine/thebaine. If you have the three rings of the opiates, those cannot be made in good yield in the lab. The central bond between the two rings is hard to make. Fentanyl does not have that bond.

Opiates have to have one ring with a nitrogen. The rings are compared here

You're the chemist, I stand corrected.

I notice, from personal experience, that tramadol is rather less prone to addicting you than most true opioids... by the amounts I popped when I had a broken wrist, I fully expected to go through hell and high water when time came to stop, but when my wrist stopped hurting, I just stopped it and never was tempted to pop any again... well, unless I had a sore tooth.

and I don't really understand the diagrams, I never was taught to decipher those, and lack the practice to recognize significant rings and chains.

Tramadol is a mixture of 2 isomers. Only one has the opiate effects. The other one gives more side effects at higher dose.

The significance of rings is that it takes more bending of the precursor molecule to get the two rings just right. You have to think of molecules as objects. The ball and stick model is right.

It's fairly easy for chemists to make single bonds between units that have no rings. Therefore I can make any peptide from amino acids easily. The rings in peptides just dangle far off to the sides. I can also make polystyrene from styrene, as the ring is not part of the chemistry.

Small number of companies created prescription opiste crisis. Johnson and Johnson got out of that business even though the old opiates were not the cause. You make all opiates from 3 natural ones. Except Tramadol and one other. And fentanyl.

Etonitazene is an analgesic drug, first reported in 1957, that has been shown to have approximately one thousand to one thousand five hundred times the potency of morphine in animals. Wikipedia

Yet we do not use the synthetic ones exclusively. Grunenthal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gr%C3%BCnenthal
launched one that was being offered as equal to opiates with all the rings, Tapentadol.

it has all the side effects of natural opiates as well as some of its own

Good guy with gun rare non-security person "happening" to be there with gun:

Of those 434 active shooter cases, an armed bystander shot the attacker in 22 of the incidents. In 10 of those, the "good guy" was a security guard or an off-duty police officer, ALERRT data showed.

Poll
A new poll found that 44% of Republican voters surveyed say that mass shootings are “something we have to accept as part of a free society,” while 85% of Democrats and 73% of Independents say they are preventable “if we really tried.” What do you think?

I'm afraid that I have to agree. Republicanism cannot be prevented. Hopefully, scientists will find a cure.

What I put up with on one of my US mcycle forums
“I am pro life.
I am not as much pro choice because birth controll is reddily avalable in the US.
Yes, it would appear that there are too many people 'feeding at the tough" to be long term sustainable.
Folkes like Bill Gates & his backers are taking the "Profitable" option selling poisen to the populance in the form of "Virouses".
He has financial interests and will profit greately because of "The Mandates".
If we had reversable sterisations options available for anyone on government "Dole" as one of the requirement should, In My opinion be required, on the condition for recieving such, of "Reversable" sterisation.
The recipients of a government check to live on (other than Veterens & SS recievers) should be manditory to recieve 'benifits'.
Hard words but, as a Eec.phd on the subject I had to float this option as an alternitive.
Y.R.M.V.. .
Yeah, I'm a "Racist" I guess, but educated in my area & honestly believe that this above is the way to handle it. Let's let the "Dependent Class" those who can not for whatever reason see to theirselves without outside help, Die out in a generation.
Rant over.”
:banghead:
I'd think it was a parody but ....it's not...and already got one  from another rider who is also in zoo class of repuglies. :coffee:
