Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late

The standing kids look like they've all got AR platforms of one sort or another. The Uzi could be anything, there are so many clones out there. The Thompson is likely a semi-auto version, several manufacturers make them (unless they're licenses for full auto and have a literal fuckton of money). Not sure what the big fucker is.

The story behind the photo.

Republican Thomas Massie condemned for Christmas guns photo
Congressman causes outrage by posting ‘insensitive’ tweet just days after Michigan school shooting

A US congressman has posted a Christmas picture of himself and what appears to be his family, smiling and posing with an assortment of guns, just days after four teenagers were killed in a shooting at a high school in Michigan.

Thomas Massie of Kentucky tweeted: “Merry Christmas! ps. Santa, please bring ammo.”

Ethan Crumbley, 15, faces charges of terrorism and murder after the deadliest school shooting in the US this year. His parents were arrested on Saturday in connection with the killing of Tate Myre, 16, Hana St Juliana, 14, and 17-year-olds Madisyn Baldwin and Justin Shilling at Oxford high school near Detroit. Six other students and a teacher were wounded in Tuesday’s shooting.

Massie, who represents a solidly Republican district, posted the picture of himself and six others holding firearms resembling machine guns and semi-automatic weaponry, some of which are made to look almost identical to fully automatic weapons.

Under US law, weapons such as machine guns are restricted to the military, law enforcement and civilians who have obtained special licenses for weapons made before May 1986.

Oh, a GOP Congressman. That's virtue signaling for that particular type of idiot.

I cant get my head around be proud of the weapons I have. It is so unDutch. What is the pride of owning a gun? It is totally alien and so much I cant get my head around it. Can someone give any part of what it is? What do the NRA expect to achieve?

Undutch? my hairy behind... The Dutch cities were some who were the latest in keeping citizen/guild militias when most other countries had switched to professional garrisons/police forces. It's not professional soldiers or noble troops who won the Golden Spurs in 1302, or who ended up getting rid of the Spanish yoke.

The American thing of self defence and military style weapons is pretty crazy, but in the right context, guns can be fun. I still fondly remember my .22 Ruger, and hunting rabbits (a pest in Oz) on Bron's parent's farm...

The emphasis on guns as an end in themselves is a weird development in the US. They're just tools. I'm not proud of my new lawn mower, even though it is a slick machine.

I can see semi-automatic rifles being appealing because they're convenient. I can't say anything about the pistol grip, since I haven't tried one. A detachable magazine would be convenient at the range I guess, but the whole GI Joe look doesn't do much for me.

I guess I'm just an old bolt action relic.
