Who is opposing adding a citizenship question to the census, and what reasons?

It sounds like transparent open borders crap, to help with elections, but so does the remedy, so it's a bit weird...

But I can't imagine why anyone would publicly oppose asking about citizenship on a census. At least not a rational reason.

It's not unreasonable at all.

California has decided to give medicaid coverage to illegal immigrants between the ages of 19 and 25. I haven't heard much about it, it's not being widely reported. It appears that the original intent was to provide all illegals with medicaid coverage but that didn't fly. Not a lot of details and it hasn't passed the full legislature yet. I've seem estimates from 98 million to 3 billion annual costs.

What y'all think? I can see a few issues.

I just find the whole thing bizarre. They are illegal, yet they get state benefits. What sort of sorry state is your State bureaucracy in if it can hand out stuff to illegals, but can't manage to deport them?
