I much prefer Liberty over Authoritarianism. Our culture is not your culture. I have zero desire to be anything like those countries you've listed.

Which shows how little you understand. All the English speaking nations I mentioned try to maximise liberty and minimise government oppression. However, there are always some things that need to be controlled for the welfare of the majority. That is why we have road rules, and laws stopping you stealing. A rule to ban hand guns in private possession is simply another wise rule to maximise the welfare of the majority.
