Yeah, but all these examples are still anecdotes, whether on one side of the argument or the other. Anecdotes are meaningless.
For every human action, there is a rationalisation and a reason. Only sometimes do they coincide.

I think you'll find that this is possible, but only when both sides are rational. Here we often have one or two people with an extreme position and a bunch of folks who like to torture them.
