Weapons Cache Seized by Japanese Police
The seizure of the weapons cache actually took place in December of 2013, and the prefectural police revealed that they had taken into their custody 18 hand guns which included Smith & Wesson revolvers and Colt automatic pistols, a military rifle and 670 rounds of ammunition – all found inside a home in an unidentified location in the prefecture.

This is big news in Japan, as it would be in Oz or NZ...

Timothy Treadwell didn't carry a gun when he was out, but then it wasn't legal to do so where he was.

His attacker was brought down by 11 40cal SW rounds + slugs from 2 12 guage shotguns--all fired by LE, all firing at nearly the same time. The attacker was ~20 feet away when recognized as a threat and able to advance ~8 feet before dropping dead.

Both Timothy and his girl friend were dead by then.
There is audio of Timothy's ordeal, but it cuts off before Amie's demise.

Timothy was really stupid.
His stupidity caused four deaths.

Can't assume more than the detection is rare. Do you think this is the only stash in Japan?

Control ammunition not firearms. It's much harder to manufacture ammo, and don't bother with the reloader's argument, you still need primers unless you're using flintlocks.

why the gun is civilization. Marko Kloos
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that’s it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force.
...

When I carry a gun, I don’t do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I’m looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don’t carry it because I’m afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn’t limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation…and that’s why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

These Christians should not have guns, because they leave it to God to lock it up and keep it safe at home

Extrapolating: when two people armed with guns get into a dispute peace and harmony will prevail. Gawd almighty, not even one kick in the head could educate you.

Of course. Guns are a problem sometimes. How to solve that problem? The solution: more guns. Obvious, innit? Just imagine a cinema where everybody in the audience has one, and someone uses a phone while some advertisement is being screened before the feature film starts. A shot gets fired. Everyone gets alarmed and draws their weapon in the semi-darkness... Yes, instant peace is guaranteed.

Dwayne Ferguson, a leader in the anti-violence organization Mad Dads was arrested last week on two felony charges stemming from the fact that he was carrying a loaded firearm at an elementary school.
“I’m sure Dwayne went into the school not thinking he had the gun on him,” said Rev. James E. Giles, a friend of Ferguson and president of Back to Basics Outreach Ministries. “We know this for a fact, that he called out to a Buffalo police lieutenant asking why the school was in lockdown, and that they were looking for a man with a gun.
